It keeps us on our toes and we love that we can be learning about something new each day. We sweat the small stuff, love the details and are makers at our core. We believe timeless design must be idea first, because ultimately styles come and go but a good idea today will remain a good idea for years to come.




Branding is a large part of what we do at The McQuades. Whether it's a single person business or a large corporation, we approach branding with the same process. Through research, we find the essence of the company and then visually represent that in a logo and visual identity. We believe that concept is king in branding and strive to create logos that are not only beautiful, but smart and timeless as well.   



Print is not dead. In our eyes, nothing compares to a beautifully printed piece that you can hold in your hands. The smell of the ink, the printed words on the page, the longevity of a printed piece- these are things that can't be replicated in a digital world. People hold onto a beautiful business card, or an interesting annual report. That's why we start each print project with the same thought: how can we make this visually beautiful and engaging enough to last for years to come. 


Illustration & Infographics

Illustration is a great tool in graphic design and we use it often. We feel that the design and illustration processes are very similar in that our primary goal is to solve a problem and convey a message. We generally approach illustration projects looking for concept first and style second. Once we have a concept, we let the idea guide the style. We apply this same thought process to infographics as well and create infographics for a wide range of clients in a style that matches the specific project. 


Creative Direction/Consulting

Beyond our day-to-day design work, we work with clients to help them create a visually cohesive brand that extends past the pieces we may have directly created. This includes creative direction for photography, illustration, signage and exteriors, interior design, and overall brand tone. All pieces of a brand should feel like they are connected and we feel a brand is most successful when every part of the brand shares a consistent message and consistent visual tone.

THE mcquades

Nicole McQuade

Nicole is a designer, illustrator and photographer and co-founder of The McQuades. With almost 10 years of experience, Nicole has worked with clients both large and small. Nicole is from a rural town in Northern Pennsylvania and received her BFA from Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia. When she isn't designing she's likely baking or photographing food. 



Mike McQuade

Mike is a designer, illustrator and artist and co-founder of The McQuades. Mike has over 11 years of experience in the field of graphic design and is also a regular illustrator for a number of high profile national and international publications. Mike is also the recipient of the ADC - Young Gun 9 award. When he isn't designing Mike's probably creating art.
